A brazen burglary in Bronxville has some residents there on high alert.

It happened Thursday morning around 5:30 a.m. on Pondfield Road.

Police say the suspects got into the home through a kitchen window - that's where they allegedly stole a purse that had key fobs inside.

The suspects stole a car from the driveway and took off with it, according to the Bronxville Police Department.

There's no word if they have been caught or how many people were involved.

"It's a pretty safe community, I'm surprised quite frankly," says Joseph Aragona, who works in Bronxville.

The Bronxville police chief says this method of stealing cars has become more common recently in Westchester County.

The following message was posted on the village's website:

"We urge you to always activate your home burglar systems - especially overnight. Please do not leave key fobs in your purse or on shelves or tables, on the first floor of your home and lock and always alarm your vehicle. Any suspicious activity, noise or persons should be reported via calling 911 immediately," said Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale.

Neighbors say it's something to keep in mind as police continue to investigate.

"It's going to make me think twice about where I put my key fobs," says a Bronxville resident.
