Police: Brick-wielding would-be robber arrested outside Sikh temple in Hicksville

According to police, the 54-year-old victim was outside Guru Nanak Darbar of Long Island at 3:30 a.m. when the suspect approached and demanded money.

A man who threatened someone with a brick overnight outside a Sikh temple in Hicksville has been charged with attempted robbery and menacing, Nassau police say.
According to police, the 54-year-old victim was outside Guru Nanak Darbar of Long Island at 3:30 a.m. when the suspect approached and demanded money.
Police say the victim ran home and tried to go to the temple again a couple of hours later, but the suspect was still there.
The victim called 911 and police say they arrested 52-year-old Malkit Singh Gill.
News 12 spoke with the president of the temple who says they serve free food daily and open at 5 a.m. He says both the victim and suspect have visited the temple before.
The temple president says they are working with the police to increase security around the area.
Police say the suspect will be arraigned in court Monday.
