The body of a slain woman was found Monday at a Water Mill resort, Suffolk County police say.

Southampton Town police responded to Shou Sugi Ban House, located at 337 Montauk Hwy., at 12:30 p.m. after a staff member found the woman dead in a guest room.

Police determined that the woman was a victim of violence.

News 12 spoke with a longtime resident about the incident who said, "Just shock, total shock...it's got a good reputation that place and...never heard a bad thing about it. I know people who have used it."

Police say it appears to be an isolated incident. They say there is no immediate danger to the public at this time.

The victim has not yet been identified by police and her cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
