An admitted MS-13 gang member is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend with a pair of scissors.
Police say 30-year-old Kenny Cruz, of Bay Shore, punched and kicked the 32-year-old victim, threw her to the ground, hit her in the head with a stapler and then stabbed her with a pair of scissors.
They say that despite three stab wounds and a collapsed lung, the victim was able to drive herself from Hempstead to New Cassel.
Police say the victim had gone to the business of her ex-boyfriend's mother on West Columbia Street in Hempstead Thursday. She was supposed to discuss financial support of their 14-year-old child.
Police say Cruz's mother was there and tried to intervene but that Cruz threatened her as well.
