A Suffolk County Police Department SUV was badly damaged Thursday afternoon when it was involved in a crash.
The incident happened at around 1:40 p.m. near the corner of Granny Road and Fairmont Avenue in Medford.
A police spokesperson says nobody was seriously injured, but at least one person was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A second crash happened about 20 minutes later, five miles to the north in Mount Sinai.
That crash apparently involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
Police officials say the Mount Sinai crash was serious but gave little additional information.
The intersection of Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road and Canal Road was closed for hours. It has since reopened.
