A Holbook woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly striking a teen waiting for a school bus and then leaving the scene.
According to a police release, Amanda Duffy, 24, was driving a 2016 Ford northbound on Morris Avenue in Holtsville around 6:40 a.m. when she struck Tara Hayes, 16, who was waiting for her school bus.
Authorities say Duffy fled the scene but returned about an hour later.
Hayes, a student at Sachem East High School, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Duffy was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury. She was released on bail and is set to be arraigned at a later date.
