A car crash into a building in Waterbury killed four people Thursday morning.

The crash into Hernandez Market happened just before 1 a.m. at the corner of Cherry Street and Maple Avenue.

The four occupants killed in the crash have been identified as 20-year-old Jayden Torres, 25-year-old Nelson Torres, 15-year-old Noel Torres and 20-year-old Jonathan Puszka. Kayden Torres, Nelson Torres and Noel Torres were brothers. All four were from Waterbury.

Police say three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The fourth they say was taken to St. Mary's hospital and later died.

Police say there was no one inside the market at the time of the crash. They don't believe the car was stolen.

Utility crews are on the scene replacing a pole that broke in half. People at the scene told News 12 they were stunned.

People who live on Cherry Street across from the Hernandez Market provided video from after the car crashed into the building.

"It was shocking to see everything," said Isabel Martinez, who owns a restaurant nearby. "It's really sad. I can't imagine those families you know their hearts. I say my prayers for them. I have seen a lot of crashes like from the whole street but nothing like this."

Police say Cherry Street will remain closed from East Main Street to Walnut Street until further notice. This is still an active investigation, and police say speed was a factor.
