Police say three teens were killed in a crash in Holtsville on Wednesday night.

Police say Cem Gunes, 16, was driving a 2009 Infinity G37 northbound on Nicolls Road with a female and a male passenger, when the vehicle left the roadway by Division Street and crashed into a wooded area at 9:43 p.m.

Gunes, of Holtsville, Taylor Beltramini, 17, of Moriches, and Landon Kromhout Auditore, 18, of Mastic were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Gunes only had a learner's permit and was speeding at the time of the crash.

Inspector Darrel Simmons, of the Suffolk County Police Department, said two of the teenagers were ejected from the car and that authorities are still investigating if they were wearing seatbelts.

News 12 has learned Gunes went to Sachem East High School. The district released a statement saying it has enacted its Crisis Intervention Team and that support services will be available to students and staff as needed.

Adriana Barrington was Gunes' girlfriend. She and her family came to the crash scene to pick up anything they could find - including a notebook, school work and a sneaker that belonged to Gunes.

"Speechless," Barrington said. "I was supposed to spend all of Christmas break with him and now he's just, he's gone."

The William Floyd School District released a statement saying Beltramini was a senior at Floyd Academy and Auditore was a senior at William Floyd High School. The district had grief and crisis counselors available.

Beltramini's friend didn't want his face shown on camera but says she will be remembered for her big heart.

"Taylor was a good person," said Jameek Collier. "It's just hurtful to see that she died at a young age, especially in a car crash. It's sad."

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
