Two people have been arrested in connection to a Valley Stream shooting where authorities say bullets were shot into a home, police say.
The shooting happened on Garfield Avenue Sunday at around 2 p.m.
At least three bullets left their mark on the Valley Stream home that is believed to be occupied at the time.
Scange Volant and Imani Rochester were arrested. Prosecutors say they are a couple.
According to court documents, Volant fired multiple rounds at a home with intent to cause serious physical injury.
Police say Rochester had a backpack with a gun in it.
Authorities say the defendants were located on Ocean Avenue just up the block from where the shots were fired. They were allegedly trying to get rid of the evidence.
Some neighbors say while they notice the area slowly improving, they were not surprised about the shooting.
Rochester's attorney, Stephen Mahler, says his client is innocent.
"When I read the complaint, I realized there was really nothing that connected her to the weapon that was the main charge," Mahler says.
Rochester is not being held behind bars but has an electronic monitor.
Volant is being held on $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond.
No motive for the incident has been released.
