Two men were shot in Long Beach early Thursday morning, police say.
Police say they received multiple reports of shots fired at the Channel Park Homes on Sycamore Court, just behind City Hall, at around 3:40 a.m.
Two male victims were later found in a car traveling down National Boulevard toward the Long Beach Fire Department. One victim was shot in the stomach and the other was shot in the arm. They were transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital.
The Long Beach Police Department did not identify the victims, but says they are both Long Beach residents.
The incident is the latest in a string of violence that neighbors say has plagued their community for months. Back in September, 28-year-old Tyrenzo Brown was shot and killed at the housing complex. After that fatal shooting, neighbors and community leaders called for more intervention from city officials.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call their confidential tip line at 516-705-7370.
