A car crash Tuesday afternoon in Coram left two people hospitalized, according to police.

Authorities say it happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Norfleet Lane.

They say a 33-year-old man sideswiped a car he was attempting to pass, crashed through a fence and then hit a tree.

He was taken to a hospital and remains in serious condition.

His passenger sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
