A 13-year-old girl was arrested for making a social media threat against East Northport Middle School, according to police.
A message to families from Northport-East Northport School Superintendent Dr. Dave Moyer says the threat was made on the social media platform Snapchat. The school district was notified by the FBI, who intercepted the threat.
School district officials say the student was identified and removed from the classroom.
Police say the threat was determined to be non-credible. No weapons were found on school grounds and nobody was hurt.
The student was charged with making a threat of mass harm. She was released to her parents and will appear in family court at a later date.
