Police say one person was shot and a suspect was arrested after an attempted robbery at the Roosevelt Field Mall Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, a call reporting the attempted robbery in the Rolex section of the Tourneau store inside the Garden City mall came in around 1 p.m.
Police say the suspect fired a single shot, striking a mall employee in the shoulder. The man, described as in his 60s, is listed in serious but stable condition.
According to officials, an NYPD inspector who was shopping at the mall helped detain the suspect.
The mall was on lockdown for about an hour and was patrolled by police for the rest of the afternoon.
Police have released few details regarding the suspect, but say he is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday. They say they weapon used in the incident was recovered.
