Police say one man was seriously injured in a shooting in North Amityville.
Officers say they were alerted to the gunfire by the Shot-Spotter system just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say they found Randy Woods, 28, with multiple gunshot wounds near Offaly Street.
The Wyandanch man was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police had initially identified the victim as 23-year-old Cory Branch, but detectives later said that Woods had "initially misidentified himself to police."
Investigators are searching for a dark-colored SUV and another vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord, in connection with the case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
