A man in Point Lookout is accused of starving his dog to death.
Prosecutors say Kevin Barnett tried to have the dog cremated at a West Hempstead animal hospital.
News 12 was told the dog was skin and bones. A necropsy showed signs of starvation.
Barnett also allegedly tried to adopt another dog from a shelter prior to his arrest.
If convicted, Barnett faces up to four years in prison.
