Jones Beach's annual holiday light show will go dark this winter.
The State Parks Department says dwindling attendance has forced the light show's promoter, Live Nation, to cancel the event.
"I would say the first couple of years it was really good," says NYS Parks Deputy Director George Gorman. "I would say at the height of it about 70,000 cars went through the holiday light show, but last year about 30,000 cars went through ... so there was a big difference."
The State Parks Department is looking into partnering with a new promoter or organizing the event itself for 2008.
