The New York Mets lost their home opening at Citi Field Friday to the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 3-1.
The game was postponed from Thursday to Friday because of the rain.
Fans ahead of the game were excited for the start of the new season.
"I'm hoping to see them at least competitive and make the games exciting and possibly, make the playoffs," said Bob Treutle, a fan from of East Meadow at the game Friday.
The New York Mets honored fallen NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller at their Opening Day presentation.
