Piccirillo sworn in as new Presiding Officer of the Suffolk Legislature

Suffolk County has a new leading lawmaker.

Anthony Piccirillo, from Holbrook, has been sworn in as the 21st Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature.

Piccirillo received 13 of 18 possible votes at Monday’s meeting.

The Republican tells News 12 his priorities include, "preserving open space, protecting our aquifer, drinking water and things that local residents want to see, and that's affordability."

Deputy Presiding Officer, Republican James Mazzarella, was also sworn in.
