The highly anticipated summer book sale at the Pequot Library in Southport kicked off its first day Friday.
It was canceled last year during the height of the pandemic.
The five-day event features the sale of nearly 100,000 used books displayed underneath two giant circus-sized tents on the front lawn and in the parking lot of the Pequot Library.
Visitors can browse through thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and records from more than 60 categories – plus unique, catalogued specials.
All items are new or gently used and donated to Pequot Library.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Proceeds directly fund Pequot Library’s annual education programs, events, exhibitions and services.
There's overflow parking at Trinity Episcopal Church nearby. To park there, you must donate canned goods in exchange for a spot.
The donations will be brought over to local food pantries.
