Paws of War service dogs joined nearly 300 Long Island residents during the annual candlelight remembrance vigil at the Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum in Farmingdale.

The dogs were present to offer extra support to mourners at the event on Saturday night.

Officials say Paws of War’s therapy program trained the dogs to recognize anxiety and stress.
