On this Veterans Day, some Long Island vets are being united with the service dogs that will help
them.
Hundreds of veterans have
relied on Paws of War for vital services, for both themselves and their four-legged friends.
This morning, Paws of War is holding an event in Nesconset to honor veterans and reunite them with
their service dogs that have completed training. For veterans suffering from the physical and emotional
effects of war, these service animals play a crucial part in their lives in
order to bring them comfort and assistance.

John Walis has relied on Paws of War for
service dog placement, where his animal has gone through Paws of War's training
program to become full-service animals.
Walis is a U.S. Army veteran who served
from January 2005 until May 2011. He
is one of the original Paws of War family members
where Tommy, his service dog, was rescued by an E.O.D Marine Corp Unit.
Through Paws of War's training program, John and Tommy completed their service dog training. Tommy
continues to support John through everyday activities, giving him a sense of
comfort and reliability.
