The woman attacked by a burglar in her Valley Stream home is speaking out because she says she wants her street to be safer.
Patricia Irala, 30, says she got home from work Monday night when she heard noise coming from the spare bedroom in her house on Bucknell Street. Irala says she went to see what was going on and saw a man climbing into her window.
Irala says the man then choked her and pulled her hair. She eventually broke free and called for help, saying her tenants upstairs heard her. The suspect ran off empty-handed. Irala says she wants more lights on her block because her dark street welcomes criminals.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 20 years old. He has a thin build and a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, a white shirt and blue jeans.
