? Sources have told News 12 Long Island that Gov. David Paterson will be on Long Island Thursday afternoon to announce his opposition to the Broadwater LNG project.
The governor?s office would not confirm any of the information, but sources say the announcement will be delivered at Sunken Meadow Park.
The natural gas barge has been a major source of controversy. Critics say the floating barge, which would be located in the Long Island Sound, poses an environmental risk and could potentially be a terrorist target.
Supporters say the barge will provide much-needed energy to Long Island.
Paterson's office did not comment.
