Some parents are frustrated with the Patchogue-Medford Union Free School District's decision to move some high school students in its Raider Academy to the middle school.

The superintendent says the program is designed to help students struggling with anxiety and mental health transition back to school.

During a meeting Wednesday, the district told parents that middle school students in the program would not interact.

Parents, however, had mixed opinions. Some felt that middle school could be made tough by bringing in older children. Others thought bringing students back into the school system is a "beautiful idea."

The district says as many as 30 students could be enrolled in the program. Currently, 12 students from the Raider Academy are part of the program.
