Police say Meint Ploegman was cleaning the gutters at the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Bohemia on Sunday.
They say the 65-year-old then fell 10 feet to the ground.
A church member found Ploegman just before 11 a.m.
He was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
