Friends and family spanning generations gathered in New Hyde Park Friday to celebrate Ernestine Berry’s 110th birthday.

Berry was born in Alabama in 1915 and now resides at the Parker Jewish Institute.

She was a beloved teacher’s assistant in New York for half a century.
