A COVID-19 survivor was celebrated Wednesday following his release from the Peconic Bay Medical Center.
Richard Horton, 66, was greeted by family and medical staff who were all thrilled to see him.
He was able to reunite with his wife of 47 years, Debbie, with whom he shares six children and 12 grandchildren.
Horton says the last month of being hospitalized due to coronavirus felt like he was hit by a truck, then run over again.
He's only the second person to be discharged from the North Fork facility after being on a ventilator.
The Horton family says they are forever grateful to the staff.
Chief Nursing Officer Christine Kippley says over 100 patients who were treated for COVID-19 at the facility have been released.
