More than 1,000 people rallied outside the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge in support Palestinians overseas.

Sunday's rally was the second demonstration held on Long Island by the Muslim community. Co-Organizer Dr. Nasal Shaid is urging people to show their support for peace in Gaza.

"We have to ask everyone to stand up and express yourself regardless of whether your political or ethnic affiliation," Shaid said.

Demonstrators called for an end to the Israel-Hamas war. More than a dozen mosques across Suffolk County were represented at Sunday's rally.

For days, Israel has been preparing a ground offensive in Gaza following Hamas' deadly Oct. 7 rampage, with tanks and troops massed at the border.
