New technology will soon be at work in hope of curbing crime in the Village of Hempstead.
State Sen. Kevin Thomas was joined by village officials Monday to announce over $900,000 in funding to support law enforcement.
It includes upgrading and expanding the license plate reader system and installing pole-mounted cameras.
"I'm making sure they have the tools they need to protect our communities and make it safe for everyone to live in peace," says Thomas.
Officials say the village will be replacing the camera system on 60 police vehicles and adding four new license plate reader locations.
