The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers is rolling out Operation Bright Eyes.

A new safety initiative that will install 500 livery and black cars with live cameras.

They say the goal is to crack down on incidents where passengers falsely claim they were the victims of accidents and injuries at the hands of taxi drivers.

The program was brought together in partnership with DisplayRide, American Transit and NYAB Brokerage.

The NYSFD says it will provide law enforcement and insurers with video proof.

More installations are planned in the coming months.
