Officials will step up security at this year's Summer Jam concert at Jones Beach after a riot broke out at concert in New Jersey.
Unruly fans tried to surge into the packed show to see acts including Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar at MetLife Stadium's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert last weekend in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
On Saturday, Jones Beach hosts WBLI's version of the concert, featuring Nick Jonas and Carly Rae Jepsen.
State Park Police union officials say they have safety concerns. News 12 has previously reported the union has been requesting more officers for months, saying it does not have enough officers to effectively cover all of the state parks on Long Island.
State Park Police will have a pair of sergeants and eight officers on concert patrol. They have asked state police to provide extra officers as a precaution.
WBLI spokesman Jeremy Rice says there is nothing to worry about.
"We don't anticipate any issues at our show," Rice says. "Our show is a family show -- parents, moms, dads bring their kids to our show."
