The stars will be at UBS Arena Wednesday for the 2024 MTV VMAs - and so will police. Nassau County officials say there will be a stepped up law enforcement presence for the high-profile event, which attracts A-list celebrities from around the world.

County Executive Bruce Blakeman says there are no credible threats against the event, but security will be high.

“It is a program that will be watched worldwide and we just want to assure everybody in the public that the Nassau county police department is going to provide the security there and we are on top of the situation,” Blakeman said.

Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says all vehicles will be scanned by the department’s arson and bomb squad.

Heavy traffic is expected on Hempstead Turnpike and on surrounding roads.

Officials say Nassau County will be reimbursed for the cost of protecting the event.
