At least six fire departments responded to a small explosion and a fire at a Valley Stream home late Saturday morning.
The Valley Stream Fire Department says it received a call just around 11:30 a.m.
Fire officials say some wires on the home on Lutz Drive were on fire when crews arrived. They also say there was a small explosion in the basement.
There were no injuries reported. Officials say a homeowner burned their ear but did not want medical attention. An occupant told News 12 that everyone was OK, but just shaken up.
A National Grid crew was still on the scene as of Saturday evening running tests on some of the neighboring homes. The crews also tore up a sidewalk and grass section just across the street from the home where the fire occurred.
News 12 reached out to National Grid to see how long the work would last but had yet to hear back as of Saturday evening.
Fire officials say they were on scene within three minutes and crews were able to extinguish the fire within an hour and a half.
"Basements are tight, basements are tough. They're difficult. But Valley Stream is very well trained. The guys... they found the fire, put it out, real quick and easy," said Mike Colucci, of the Valley Stream Fire Department.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.
