A fire broke out in the kitchen at the Grand Lux Café in Garden City Wednesday, fire officials say.
It happened at around 8:45 a.m., but several employees were inside getting ready for the lunch crowd.
According to officials, one employee suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
“It was very rough. The fire was in the ducts, which is very hard to get to. It’s two levels up on the roof, so it made firefighter operations very difficult,” said Westbury Fire Chief Lashaun Carr.
The restaurant is next to the Roosevelt Field Mall, but officials say the fire was contained to the restaurant.
