An off-duty Suffolk County police officer helped save a family from a house fire in Centereach Friday night.
The flames sparked at a home on Minto Court just before 11 p.m.
Police say 12-year-old Caleigh Anson saw the flames from her bedroom window and told her dad James, a Suffolk police officer.
He grabbed a ladder from his garage, climbed up to the second story window and helped rescue Jason and April Noon along with their 5-year-old and 7-year-old sons.
Authorities say one of the family's dogs was also rescued, while the other didn't survive the fire.
