NYPD: 4-year-old from Melville dies from injuries sustained during Brooklyn crash

The 16-year-old driver was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving without a license and having alcohol and cannabis in a vehicle on the highway.

A 4-year-old boy from Melville died Tuesday after succumbing to injuries he sustained in a crash earlier this month in Brooklyn, according to the NYPD.
The 16-year-old driver of the car was arrested after failing to navigate the roadway and striking an elevated train support pillar.
The operator of the vehicle was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving without a license and having alcohol and cannabis in a vehicle on the highway.
The 4-year-old victim was identified as Giovanni Quiles. An 11-year-old boy was also injured in the incident.
