Today is the day for tricks and treats, but the city is preparing for 'Trick or Streets' as nearly 100 streets will go car-free tonight for Halloween.

The area between Church Avenue and 2nd Street in Flatbush is one of the streets that will be closed to traffic starting at 4 p.m. as kids flock to the streets to get Halloween candy.

Open Streets were made permanent back in 2021 after being launched during the height of the pandemic.

As part of Trick or Streets, 28 streets will be closed in Brooklyn and three in the Bronx making them all car-free. This is the first time ever that the city is expanding the hours for Open Streets into Halloween night. Mayor Eric Adams says this initiative is meant to promote safety, community, and fun.

Officials say they’re hoping this initiative will keep families out of harm’s way tonight and allow them a safe space to enjoy trick-or-treating. Those streets will be closed from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
