Federal agents raided a Hempstead family health clinic and arrested a nurse practitioner who was allegedly writing illegal prescriptions for painkillers.
Officials say Lisa Del Pozo was writing oxycodone prescriptions for people who had no medical need for the drug.
The Drug Enforcement Agency raided the Kind Family Health clinic on Franklin Street Wednesday morning, removing boxes and a computer.
Court documents say the DEA is investigating an oxycodone distribution ring that they believe involves Del Pozo and others. They say Del Pozo wrote 1,200 prescriptions to 49 people in just over a year. Twenty-two of those people had a criminal history - including drug arrests and convictions.
Del Pozo was released on a $10,000 bond package. She is due back in court in two weeks.
