Northwell Health's first baby of 2025 was born just after the ball dropped.

"We had a newborn on the new year, so it's been great news and a great beginning of the year,” said Ashfaq Khan, of North Babylon.

Gulbano Khan was born at 12:10 a.m. at Huntington Hospital at 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches.

According to Northwell Health, she is the first baby of 2025 for the health system.

Her parents say her due date was Jan. 4, but her mother went into labor early and was admitted to the hospital on New Year's Eve.

This is the couple's second baby. They have an 11-month-old boy at home waiting to meet his sister. The parents say both of their children were born at the same hospital.

"Our experience for the last time here was really good and that's why we came here again,” said Khan.

The proud parents say they’re grateful to the doctors and nurses at the hospital. They say they're excited their daughter is healthy, and they can't wait to bring her home.

"I am excited about it, and we will hopefully have a great year ahead,” said Khan.

Khan says after another checkup or two, they will hopefully head home Thursday with Baby New Year.
