Northwell Health has fired 1,400 employees who chose not to follow New York’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers.

A spokesperson for Northwell says they are now 100% vaccinated and they can continue to provide care at all of their facilities “without interruption and remain open and fully operational."

The state’s largest health care provider says it has found replacements for most of the open positions through recruitment.

Northwell went on to say it regrets losing any employee under these circumstances, but as health care professionals, “we understand our unique responsibility to protect the health of our patients and each other.”
