Northwell Health drops most mask mandates for patients, visitors and team members

Officials say masks will still be required for Northwell team members and visitors if they are interacting with a patient who is suspected or confirmed to have a viral respiratory infection or if the person is immunocompromised.

Northwell Health announced Wednesday that it's lifting mask requirements for team members, patients and visitors at hospitals and offices.
Northwell had already eased restrictions in its nonclinical areas.
It comes after face covering requirements were lifted in health care facilities across the state last month.
Officials say masks will still be required for Northwell team members and visitors if they are interacting with a patient who is suspected or confirmed to have a viral respiratory infection or if the person is immunocompromised.
March marks the third anniversary of the start of the COVID-19 outbreak.
