Police: 2 people dead, driver arrested for DWI following Laurel Hollow crash

Police say two people have died and one person has been arrested following an early morning crash in Laurel Hollow.
According to detectives, Sotirios Spanos, 32, was operating a 2023 Acura MDX, traveling eastbound on Northern Boulevard in the vicinity of Moored Hill Road when he crossed over the yellow divider and collided with a Ferrari traveling westbound.
The passenger of the Ferrari, female victim, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, male victim, 37, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Police say an investigation revealed that Spanos, who remained at the scene, was intoxicated at the time of the accident and was placed under arrest without incident.
The identity of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.
Spanos is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of manslaughter two counts of assault, DWI and reckless driving.
Northern Boulevard and Moores Hill Road was closed in all directions, but has since reopened.
