The North Shore is expected to see between 3-5 inches of snow today. In Syosset, neighbors wasted little time getting a head start on snow removal.
By Sunday morning, neighbors say more than an inch of snow had already accumulated in some areas. Residents could be seen clearing off cars and shoveling driveways as steady snowfall continued.
News 12 spoke with Town of Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro on road conditions.
For Scott Wells, staying ahead of the storm was the goal. He says he needs to pick up his daughter from work later in the day, giving him extra motivation to get outside early and start clearing snow.
“It feels alright. My snowblower is working, but I didn’t need it. Like I said, ‘Keep ahead of it’ so hopefully the snowblower can stay in the garage.”
While main roads throughout the area were mostly clear, neighborhood streets like Wells’ could still use some attention from plows.
As he waited for crews to make their way through, Wells said cold mornings like this one have him thinking about warmer destinations.
“The older I get the more I want to go south. Can’t stand the cold, can’t stand the snow.”
