A North Carolina man has been convicted in the 2021 fatal shooting of a Hempstead man.
Ruben Diego Avila Huicab was found guilty Tuesday of charges, including murder.
Prosecutors say he and a 16-year-old boy gunned down Ricardo Cardona outside of his home.
They say Cardona had held on to Avila Huicab's tools to ensure he was paid for construction work he had done for him.
Avila Huicab is set to be sentenced in August.
He faces 40 years to life in prison.
