Nonprofit left devastated after community fridge is stolen

A Brooklyn nonprofit is searching for the criminals that they say affected hundreds of families.
The Pakistani American Youth Organization had a community fridge located outside its Midwood office that was stolen last week.
Waquil Ahmed, the founder of Pakistani American Youth Organization, says he stocks his food pantry every Thursday and people line up hours before it opens.
To keep up with the demand, the Pakistani American Youth Organization has relied on the community fridge since April.
"People have access 24/7, seven days a week. There's no restriction, except we had one item per person,” says Ahmed.
Ahmed told News 12 that last Friday, multiple men were captured on surveillance video stealing the fridge in broad daylight.
Ahmed says that it was sickening for him to watch the video of the crime. He says that the suspects didn’t seem to care that they might be stealing from hungry families.
“We tried to buy the new fridge as soon as possible but how much can I do from my own pockets,” says Ahmed.
