News 12 Long Island was able to take a sneak peek at Nassau Executive Ed Mangano's new budget before it's officially submitted.

For the sixth time in seven years, Mangano is proposing a budget that does not include a tax increase, even though it calls for an increase in police staffing.

Mangano's 2017 budget proposal calls for the hiring of an additional 150 police officers, along with more than 80 civilian public safety employees.

While county taxes will not increase next year, the executive does say that there will be fee increases, although it is not yet clear which ones will go up.

Legislative Democrats say fee increases amount to nothing than a "backdoor" tax.

The formal budget proposal is being submitted overnight, meaning it'll be known on Friday which fees the county executive plans to increase. The proposal will ultimately require approval from the county Legislature and the Nassau Interim Finance Authority.
