New video shows the terrifying moment two NYPD officers from Long Island were involved in a deadly shootout.
The body camera shows the officers inside the home of a woman who says she was assaulted by her partner on Nov. 24.
What followed was a deadly exchange of gunfire. A total of 11 shots were fired from Rondell Goppy's firearm, according to NYPD investigators, and 24 shots came from officers Christopher Wells and Joseph Murphy, which resulted in the 41-year-old suspect's death.
Officials say Murphy was shot in both hands and Wells was shot in the thigh.
News 12 was there last year when Wells was released from Jamaica Hospital 48 hours after the shooting. Wells' father called his release "the best Thanksgiving gift" he's ever had.
NYPD PBA President Patrick Lynch said in a statement, "This video is chilling and difficult to watch, but it makes one thing clear: Police Officers Wells and Murphy saved lives. They saved the lives of that domestic violence victim and her children, and they saved each other's lives. For anyone questioning whether we need police officers responding to these types of situations, this video is the answer."
