The Gilgo Beach suspect is being sued by New York state for unpaid wages.

A lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleges there are unpaid wages owed to employees at Rex Heuermann's New York City-based architecture firm.

Heuermann owes the state nearly $69,000, according to court documents. The fine stems from an original amount of $21,000 in unpaid wages dating back several years. It also includes civil penalties, interest and damages.

The lawsuit does not name who the wages are owed to.

Heuermann is facing murder charges for the deaths of three women whose bodies were found along Gilgo Beach. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
