New York man facing charges in Westport forgery and ID theft

Police say Franklin Jimenez was able to steal it, changed the check to read $18,300 and deposited it into an account he controlled.

Police say a New York man is facing charges in Westport for stealing a check and then altering and cashing it.

The victim told police they had mailed a check for $830.

Police say Franklin Jimenez was able to steal it, changed the check to read $18,300 and deposited it into an account he controlled.

Jimenez was released on a $50,000 bond and is due back in court next month.
