New program launched to bring safe water to Nassau customers

A new program is coming to Nassau to help keep the county's water supply safe.
Nassau officials announced Wednesday a new grant program to help local water providers continue to bring safe water to its customers.
It comes as emerging contaminants including 1-4 Dioxane, PFOs and PFOAs have been found in the county's water.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says the water remains completely safe to use and drink but the grant money will help providers treat and remove those contaminants.
"We want to make sure that we're using this money to help build a stronger, healthier and more substainable Nassau," says Curran.
The grants, in the amount of $50,000, will be made available to 30 public and private water suppliers in Nassau.
